Carrying on in the office someday's felt like an uphill struggle. Why was I the only employee running around like a headless chicken? I seemed to be doing everything at times. Very rare did I have a sick day. However I remember being off sick with Glandular Fever and my boss telephoned me as he couldn't work the printer! So guess what? yes I drove in and sorted the problem!! Heavy streaming colds and having croup I still went into work, I did not want to let the office down. Looking back I was young and stupid putting it politely. The Company would not go into administration if I stayed home for a couple of days.

Makes you wonder in today's society how many people feel the same. Struggle into work ill but will not let their colleagues or boss down?, or are we a nation of sick day people. Not thinking or worrying what work will say? Never heard of duvet days years ago but then the question is asked is it because we have more pressures? Children, families unexpected problems at home, even car troubles. These factors all add up to needing time off work outside of holiday entitlements.
The Government need to stop Companies issuing zero working hour contracts and people may feel happier knowing time off sick is covered
